A home where rescued animals
live out their lives in peace.
Nestled on a 25-acre slice of historic Little Mountain, bordering the Holden Arboretum. A permanent, loving sanctuary for small farm animals to live, healthy and protected, for the rest of their days.
A sanctuary, not a shelter. A forever home.
At Little Mountain Animal Sanctuary, we don’t seek to rehome the animals in our care. We are their last home, a permanent refuge where rescued farm animals can simply be, in comfort and love, until the end of their natural lives.
Built on the historic site of the 1800s Little Mountain Resort and bordering one of America’s largest arboreta, our 25 acres offer dramatic rock outcroppings, sheer rock walls, and quiet pastures. The same sanctuary, privacy, and peace once enjoyed by the resort’s most famous guests, now offered to the animals who need it most.
Six things that make us unlike anywhere else.
The site of a famous 1831 resort once frequented by President Garfield and John D. Rockefeller.
One of the largest arboreta in America, 3,600 quiet, ecologically sensitive acres right next door.

The dream behind the sanctuary.
Little Mountain Animal Sanctuary exists because of Sharon Marie Rhoads-Kozar. A woman whose love for animals began in childhood in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and grew into a lifelong dream of providing rescued farm animals a place to live out their lives in comfort and love.
“Sharon Marie passed into Heaven on November 14th, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer, before she could see this dream become a reality. It is in her memory that Little Mountain Animal Sanctuary is brought to life.” A note from her family
Help keep our founder’s legacy thriving.
Whether you can give your time or a tax-deductible donation, every contribution goes directly to feeding, caring for, and protecting the animals who call Little Mountain home.

Inspired by Paul Newman’s model of giving, every dollar of profit from The Butcher’s Pantry, a scratch-kitchen restaurant, butcher shop, and craft bar in Solon, is donated to Little Mountain Animal Sanctuary. When you dine there, you’re feeding the animals who live here.
