Heart-Centered, Mission-Focused

A sanctuary, not a shelter. A forever home.

At Little Mountain Animal Sanctuary, we don’t seek to rehome the animals in our care. We are their last home, a permanent refuge where rescued farm animals can simply be, in comfort and love, until the end of their natural lives.

Built on the historic site of the 1800s Little Mountain Resort and bordering one of America’s largest arboreta, our 25 acres offer dramatic rock outcroppings, sheer rock walls, and quiet pastures. The same sanctuary, privacy, and peace once enjoyed by the resort’s most famous guests, now offered to the animals who need it most.

Animals Onsite

Meet the residents of Little Mountain.

Six species call our pastures and barns home. Each one with a story, each rescued, each given the room to live out their days exactly as they were meant to.

In Memory of Sharon Marie

The dream behind the sanctuary.

Little Mountain Animal Sanctuary exists because of Sharon Marie Rhoads-Kozar. A woman whose love for animals began in childhood in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and grew into a lifelong dream of providing rescued farm animals a place to live out their lives in comfort and love.

“Sharon Marie passed into Heaven on November 14th, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer, before she could see this dream become a reality. It is in her memory that Little Mountain Animal Sanctuary is brought to life.” A note from her family
